Smells and Strongheart

We were all sitting around eating lunch and dad was talking about what happened as he was going through mom's poetry.  He saw the word "smells"  and a memory came flooding back to him.  He said that as a boy he went everywhere without his shoes.  He could walk for miles at a time through field and into the woods and over the blackberries.  Once he said he went to the last day of school without his shoes on because they couldn't kick him out of school.  It was the last day.  Then he started to laugh.  He said he was walking through a cow pasture and he stepped right into a cow puddle...fresh.  We are eating and I'm saying...hey dad....laugh, laugh, ....we are eatting. He stopped for a minute and then went on with the smell.  He laughed so hard.

Joe had purchased a copy of an old movie with our relative, "Strongheart" in it.  For those who don't know, Strongheart is a very famous dog Dad's uncle owned.  Larry Trimble was one of the first movie directors in Hollywood.  Julie was the first dog in the movies that he owned.  Beautiful dog too.  Strongheart became very famous before Rin Tin Tin.  The movie was great and lasted over an hour.  A must see.  It is the only copy left in print right now that you can buy.  Private owners probably have the other copies.  Strongheart was awesome. Everything I wanted him to be and more.  Dad, Beckie, Joe, Aunt Sue, and I watched it.
